R.A.G.S. (Rescues Against Greyhound Subsidies) was formed in 1995 after watching the television program on the BBC called "Here & Now".
That program was to act as a catalyst for one of the biggest controversies pertaining to animal welfare.
R.A.G.S. began to research the possibility of launching a campaign to abolish the Grant Aid that was being made available to Irish Rural farmers supporting the increase in the numbers of greyhounds that are produced each year.

There are already too many Greyhounds. What will be the plight of the Euro Dog? We, in our opinion believe that they will become the waste product of an Industry that's in trouble. A recent survey that was conducted by "The Greyhound Star" looks into the problem of falling attendance's at N.G.R.C. tracks. |
