| Cleo - our thirty second contribution (by Sam Graham) |

Greetings once again and as usual many thanks for your continued support for Rescued Racers. Having had a really bad year firstly with the sudden and tragic death of my beloved Rusty in May 2002 it was a short time after I lost my big guy Flynn who was diagnosed with Canine Lymphoma. 4 days after his biopsy Flynn suffered a major heart attack and died peacefully doing what he loved doing the best and that was going for a ride in the car. With Bella now on her own she withdrew into herself and was not the happy go lucky dog from when she had company. This then leads nicely to my newest greyhound called Cleo. A stunning little fawn who had been in a home for 3 years and was brought back to Greyhound Welfare after she had allegedly bitten the resident 7 year old child. Not true - we found out later that they were having friends to stay and they wanted the room. Personally in my opinion the dog is better off out and should never have been homed there in the first place. So rather than Cleo go back into kennels (we did have a home lined up for her) I said she could come and stay with me for a while - and it was ONLY FOR A WHILE. However the home fell through as the person concerned had not asked his landlord about the possibility of having a dog. So Cleo stayed and her and Bella get on like a house on fire, Bella in herself is much more content and Cleo has gained confidence - all in all a good end to a bad situation. I still miss my three special boys Rusty, Sunny and Flynn dearly and they will never be replaced but thanks to Bella and now Cleo it's a little easier to bear. Please continue to visit us when ever you can. Best wishes Sam. |
