Jim - our thirty third contribution (by  Judy Stains)

Dear Sam,
Jim was a stray we found at the Wood Green kennels nine years ago.  He has been an absolute dream of a dog - so sweet, loving and obedient. At first he was very, very nervous.  The people at Wood Green thought he may have been abused, and our early experiences with him seemed to confirm that, but he soon learned to trust us and nothing pleases him better than to sleep somewhere comfortable where he can see one of us, preferably me. He must have been about three when we brought him home, but he was so eager to please that it was the easiest thing to train him.  He knows and understands so many words and will do all the usual things (sit, lay down, shake, etc) plus a few more unusual ones, like barking and even growling to order!  When he's excited about a treat he'll try to do them all at once which is so funny. He is afraid of cats - though he will run after them if they run away they only have to turn and look at him and he backs off; and he loves to spend time with the little guys.  His best friends were Cracker, a Norwich Terrier and Jasper, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, and though he doesn't see either of them any more he'll still try to pull me over to check out any small dog that looks like one of them. I don't think I've met a more gentle natured dog and will probably only take greyhounds in future.

Judy
